Celebrate Best Buddies Iowa's mission of friendship and inclusion for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities with a walk and new this year, a 5K run along the Des Moines River Walk Trails. 5K begins at 10 a.m.; Friendship Walk at 11 a.m. Following the walk, the Iowa Cubs will open the stands for Best Buddies Day. Participants who raise $50 or more will receive a game ticket and t-shirt. Additional game tickets can be purchased.
Tyler Sash, New York Giants player and former Hawkeye player and Jessica VerSteeg, Miss Iowa Runner-Up 2012, will join the walk.
Walk registration is free. Each participant is encouraged to fundraise. 5K Run registration is $20 and includes lunch.
