Agriculture in Iowa has influenced the course of history in our state, our nation and the world. At 7 p.m. Humanities Iowa speaker, Liz Garst, will present “Peace Through Corn” which reflects on the ways in which Iowa’s agriculture industry has had influence worldwide.
Liz Garst will recount the history of agricultural development in Iowa, from early settlement through the fabulous mid-century explosion of farm productivity, based on the hybrid seeds, machinery, fertilizers, and livestock technologies promoted by her grandfather, Roswell Garst. Program is free and open to the public.
