Cedar Rapids Independent Film Festival

The Cedar Rapids Independent Film Festival - CRIFF, as it's known to fans and filmmakers - is in its 21st year, and takes place the first full non-Easter weekend in April. CRIFF celebrates the work of filmmakers from across the state, throughout the country, and around the world, all with connections to Iowa. It is a venue for enthusiastic, packed-house general audiences to view the best new works; and our goals are to encourage independent filmmakers to continue improving their craft, to provide a place to put the spotlight on Iowa-connected films, broaden the cultural scene in our community, and offer networking opportunities to build the Iowa Filmmaking Industry. Selected films compete for Gold and Silver Eddy Awards and Audience Choice and Iowa Connection Awards, as well as a $1000 Collins Road Theatres Scholarship. The Official Selections always represent a wide variety of features, shorts, documentaries, music videos, and experimental films at Student, ProAm and Professional levels. CRIFF is held at the independently-owned Collins Road Theatres, with real butter on tap for your popcorn, and the best audience experience around!
