12th Annual Model Railroad Show & Sale

The North Central Iowa Model Rail Road Club is located in the basement of the former Hampton Rock Island Depot on the Franklin County Fair Grounds. Membership available to anyone in the area with an interest in model trains. We currently have an active membership of eighteen, including members from Iowa Falls, Thornton, Sheffield, Forrest City, Dumont, Clear Lake, and Mason City. The club layout is a popular attraction during the Franklin County Fair and is also open to the public the afternoon of the train show, and at various open houses during the year. The past twelve Octobers the club, in partnership with the Franklin County Fair Board, has staged a train show exposition in the main room of the Franklin County Convention Center. All profits for the show are split equally between both entities. The money generated helps to cover expenses for maintaining a climate-controlled building for our layout. Along with promoting the hobby of model railroading, we feel this event also showcases the North Central Iowa area.
