Book Club 802 with Prairie Lights (Iowa City)

Join the AAMI for our brand-new book club, Book Club 802. This month we will be reading Wake: The Hidden History of Women Led Slave Revolts by Rebecca Hall. We'll be meeting to discuss the book on October 18 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at Prairie Lights Books and Cafe. This book is available for purchase in person or online with our event partner, Prairie Lights Books and Cafe. -- Why Book Club 802? The club draws its name from House File 802, legislation which bans Iowa governmental entities — including K-12 schools — and public colleges from teaching “divisive concepts.” As a non-governmental entity, we can continue to talk about race, racism and systemic oppression, and we invite everyone to join us in the conversation.
