Grinnell Fly-In Breakfast 2024

Hobby pilots from all over the state have come to Grinnell in the past as well as special guest pilots like the owner of the “Red Barron” open cockpit biplane. We have invited but do not yet have confirmation on a parachute club “Dropping in” as well as many other special guests . This a family event and the biggest fund raiser for our Optimist Club to allow us to- Bring out the Best in Kids, the Community and Ourselves. Backpacks for Kids – The club purchases backpacks and supplies for kids in need. We served over 100 kids each fall. National Night Out- The Grinnell Optimist Club in partnership with the Grinnell Police department plan an evening of Ice cream supplied by the club at no charge to the community at three city parks. The Club Members scoop ice cream for everyone. This gives law enforcement both city and county, first responders, city officials, and some local politicians, the opportunity to meet the community at large. It also encourages neighbors to meet neighbors. Aid to Families who have children receiving medical treatment out of town. The Grinnell Optimist Club has made this our largest project for the community. Gas cards are given to the families to help them with the uncovered and costly expenses incurred when a child is in treatment.
