Seed Savers Exchange seed swap at Convergence CiderWorks
Saturday, January 27, 2024
Join Seed Savers Exchange and Convergence CiderWorks to celebrate National Seed Swap Day! Saturday, January 27, 1-3 p.m. Free and open to the public. Festivities will include community seed swap plus seeds from the Seed Savers Exchange seed bank, live music, a short presentation on seed saving, delicious local cider and food available for purchase from Convergence.
What is a seed swap? A seed swap is an event that celebrates the community and the connection between people and seeds. Sharing seeds and stories is a great way to connect with your gardener neighbors, and seed swap seeds are more likely to be locally adapted to our climate. That means the seeds have been harvested from plants that did well in the local weather conditions and with pests.
Who attends a seed swap? Anyone who’s interested in seeds or gardening! Everyone is welcome. Never gardened before? Come and bring your curiosity! Gardened and saved seeds your whole life? Bring your seeds and stories to share.
What do I need to bring to this event? It’s not required to bring anything to the seed swap. If you have seeds you’d like to share, please bring them! If possible, bring them in a labeled container. If you have extra ziplock bags, paper packets, or other potential seed containers for seeds you receive, bring those as well. Seed Savers Exchange will be bringing empty, blank packets and writing utensils for people to use.
