Must Do's
Meaning "beautiful view," Bellevue is located along the Great River Road and the Mighty Mississippi River, offering opportunities to relax in nature and enjoy unique shopping and dining options. You can't miss Bellevue State Park, which boasts stunning views of the river, over seven miles of hiking trails, camping, a butterfly garden, lime kilns and more exciting finds. Speaking of exciting, another can't-miss is Ski Bellevue, one of only four water ski show teams in Iowa and the only one to perform on the Mississippi River. Their shows are free to attend and feature thrilling jumps, human pyramids and bare-foot theatrics, all with the Lock & Dam #12 as the backdrop.

Outdoor Adventures & Exciting Eateries
For more outdoor fun, set off on Bellevue's 10-mile trail system, Riverview Trail, which connects to Dubuque area trails as well. The city offers a bike rental program for both adults and kids, making it easy for visitors to take advantage of the trails. Once you have your wheels, pedal to Felderman Park, where a pedestrian bridge crosses Mill Creek and connects the park to Bellevue State Park. The park also includes a nine-hole disc golf course, and you can find free disc rentals at the public library. Sports enthusiasts and families alike can gather in Cole Park, where the community swimming pool, basketball courts, tennis/pickleball courts, baseball and softball fields, soccer fields and accessible playground equipment can keep everyone entertained for hours.

Once it's time to refuel, look no further than River Ridge Brewing. This locally owned brewery and restaurant combines all the best aspects of small river towns: friendly service, local flavors and scenic views. Make a selection from their craft beer menu and pair it with a massive Bavarian pretzel, flatbread pizza or nachos to enjoy inside the taproom or on the patio. Another spot with spectacular views, Off Shore Bar & Grill features a menu for every meal and every season, including brunch, lunch, dinner and dessert, featuring everything from starters and salads to gourmet burgers and stone deck pizzas. Step back in time with a visit to Grandpa's Parlour, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner in an old-school hometown diner atmosphere. Or simply stop by for dessert - they also serve over 30 flavors of ice cream that are rotated daily. For more sweet treats, visit Field of Chocolate Dreams to discover gourmet small batch chocolates.
