First called Spring Valley, the town officially became Casey in 1869. In 2019, the community celebrated its 150th Sesquicentennial Celebration. That’s a whole lot of history!
The town was named for brothers John & James Casey , who had done the grading across the divide. They were in charge of the extension of the Chicago and Rock Island R.R. to Council Bluffs and in honor of the two Pennsylvania Irishmen, the name Casey was established
