The Mills County Freedom Rock was completed in 2015 and is located inside Emerson's city park. 
 
Outdoor Adventures:
Emerson is located near two popular recreation areas. Lake George, just west of town, offers a fishing lake and picnic shelters that can be reserved for use. Lake George is renowned for being a great location for birding enthusiasts.

The Indian Creek Green Belt is a peaceful place for picnics, birding and hiking. The 17-acre park features restored prairie, creek access and mowed trails. Fruit trees are also onsite and for public use.
