Take a drive through the beloved Hastie Hollow, regarded as one of the most scenic backroads in Iowa, for an unexpected road adventure. The Davies Amphitheatre has showcased community theatre since the 1980s. Open during the summer, the outdoor venue provides a great small-town summer theater experience that can’t be missed. The Mills County Historical Museum showcases the county’s storied past and offers public events throughout the year.
A unique Mills County experience is the Glenwood Archaeological State Preserve. The preserve has 107 recorded archaeological sites, including 27 earth lodge site. Although the preserve is a low impact recreation area, there are trails to explore and enjoy the many landscapes on the site.
Outdoor Adventures and Exciting Eateries
The Glenwood Lake Park is beloved for its fishing lake, walking paths and playground. Camping is available, and the park includes the Davies Amphitheatre and Mills County Historical Museum. Kenny's Woods offers a peaceful place to hike, watch birds and even mushroom hunt. Recreational offerings include a disc golf course that opened in 2024 at the Glenwood City Park, which also has more than 6 miles of mowed trails.

Downtown Glenwood has several great options for a meal. The Round Table Tea Bar features a changing menu to keep things fresh for customers.
