Must Do's
Located about 25 minutes south of Des Moines is the City of St. Charles. As visitors enter town from I-35, they are welcomed by the beautiful Imes Covered Bridge, which provides a perfect sense of the community's rural Iowa roots. Stop by the St. Charles Welcome Center to find visitors information about the community and the covered bridges. Then head to Madison County Winery to enjoy an evening surrounded by a wonderful rural setting next to their orchard while sipping finely crafted wines.

Outdoor Adventures
Take a mini road trip to discover the rest of the area's bridges by exploring the Covered Bridges Scenic Byway. Then book one of the Wildwood Hills Ranch Luxury Cabins to enjoy an evening tucked away in rolling hills. The cabins offer horseback riding, canoeing, hiking and archery upon request.

Community Highlights
Residents, former residents and visitors alike are welcome to enjoy the annual Old Settlers celebration held the third weekend in July.  St. Charles is also home to the Avenue of the Saints Amphitheater, which hosts the four-day Hinterland Music Festival every August. Fun boutiques dot the town's Main Street, making for a relaxing afternoon of shopping.
