Must Do's
Any trip to Story City must include visiting its iconic Antique Carousel! The 1913 hand carved wooden carousel, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is open May to September. Story City is also home to a swinging bridge built in 1936, and its still-operating 1913 Story Theatre/Grand Opera House.
Outdoor Adventures & Exciting Eateries
Start the day with a beverage and pastry from Kaffe Geita. Alley's Pizza has been a local fave since this family-owned restaurant opened in 2003. Los Altos is the place to head to for lunch, supper or anything in between for its extensive food and drink menu.
During the summer, a visit to Slims Country Market is highly recommended. Head to the market for local foods and fresh produce. It's been a Story City institution since 1943!
Fans of water recreation are in luck in Story City with the South Skunk River Water Trail. This trail has 11 access points along its 33 miles - perfect for a float! South Park boasts trails, river views and activities range from picnicing to fishing.
