When temperatures start to cool off, mark your calendar for Sioux City’s fall events. Every year the community welcomes autumn with the Fall Fest, which is held the second weekend in October. The two-day city-wide celebration kicks off on Saturday with the Sioux City Farmers’ Market where, along with shopping local produce, visitors can participate in kids and pets costume contests, paint pumpkins, go trick-or-treating at the booths and more. The Market is held in the Tyson Events Center parking lot.
The fun continues into Sunday at area attractions throughout Sioux City. Head to the Sergeant Floyd River Museum & Welcome Center to participate in a scavenger hunt and pick out a pumpkin or gourd to take home. Enjoy free crafting sessions at the Art Center, Public Library and the Art SUX Gallery. Find even more activities and programming at the Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center and the Dorothy Pecaut Nature Center.
For German-inspired fall fun, save the date for Sioux City’s Oktoberfest, hosted by Jackson Street Brewing. The 12-hour celebration is held the last weekend in September and features the best of German fare like bratwursts, potato salad, pretzels with Heidel-Brau beer cheese and, of course, German-style craft beers. Enjoy your food and drink while relaxing on the patio or challenge your friends to a variety of games.
