With 6,500 acres of land and a 690-acre lake, it’s no surprise that Brushy Creek is known as one of Iowa’s premier outdoor recreation destinations. It boasts about 35 miles of equestrian, mountain biking and hiking trails that take visitors through a mosaic of native prairie, grassland and timber habitats. There’s also a 12-mile gravel trail around the lake that’s open year-round, no matter the weather.
The lake also offers a variety of activity for boaters and anglers. Its 21 miles of shoreline includes four boat ramps, eight fishing jetties and a universally accessible fishing pier is located on the west side. Cast a line and try your luck at catching bluegill, crappie, largemouth bass, channel catfish, walleye and muskellunge.
For adventures on the water, the entire lake is a no-wake zone, making it a relaxing place to kayak or canoe. Or swimmers can take a dip at the large sandy beach on the west side.
