Take in the beauty of the Mississippi River at this unique and tranquil getaway. The American House Inn is the oldest standing building in McGregor, IA. Built in 1854, by William H. Harding, as McGregor's first Hotel, this building is on the National Registry of Historic Places and takes you back to the late 1800s but with modern amenities. Stagecoach Stop, once the main lobby of the hotel is where stagecoach tickets could be purchased for the horse-drawn carriage. Also, in its rich history it was once a saloon, dental office & and for a period of time after the civil war, a house of "ill-repute." Located just across the street from Big Bouy's Tiki Bar & Nauti Marina, Kwik Star and a block from the Sadie’s Sweet Ice Cream shop! You don’t want to miss enjoying all of the history and the beauty of this vintage gem! Just down the block you can visit all the local antique & gift shops in downtown McGregor, IA. Great location right on the Mississippi River!
