Big Grove Preserve

Big Grove Preserve is an 80-acre woodland adjacent to the Coralville Reservoir off of Sugar Bottom Road. This area makes up part of the original "Big Grove"; noted by the first settlers to describe Johnson County's landscape. The original Big Grove was acquired in 2004 and the 40-acre addition was acquired in conjunction with the Protect. Conserve. Grow. capital campaign from 2016-2017. The combined areas create more woodland habitat for birds, spring ephemeral wildflowers like Dutchman's breeches, spring beauty and rue anemone, and all kinds of wildlife. The preserve also neighbors Cangleska Wakan, a park managed by Johnson County Conservation, with trails connecting both areas.
