Calkins Nature Area

Calkins Nature Area is home to a nature center with a Native American and Natural History Museum which proudly displays one of central Iowa’s largest collections of Native American artifacts. The grounds span 76 acres of rolling hills along the Iowa River and include the following amenities: amphitheater, hiking trails, a butterfly house, a full-sized Native American tipi, gazebo, picnic area, wildlife exhibits and a wild bird observatory.
