Dexter Round House
The Roundhouse was built in 1916 for $10,000. Architect Major Matthew Leander King, was the Grandfather of actor Nick Nolte. The 100' x 68' building appears to be round but is elliptical. It is constructed of hollow blocks. The roof has no support except at the walls. The interior has a box office at the South and a stage at the North. It was placed on the National Register of Historical Places in 1975. It is thought to be the only building of its kind in the state and possibly the nation.
