Eddyville Sand Dunes Prairie

The Eddyville Sand Dunes Prairie is a 225-acre nature area managed by Wapello County Conservation. It represents one of the most unique sand prairie remnants in the Midwest, an ecosystem that has almost completely disappeared from Iowa except for a few small areas around the state. While hiking, the mile and a half trail, visitors can find rare plant and animal life including prickly pear cactus and the ornate box turtle.
