Caldwell Park is a 62-acre area located at 2392 Hwy 92, Oskaloosa, Iowa. This area has many features and is the location of The Mahaska County Environmental Learning Center (ELC) which also house the business offices of the Mahaska County Conservation Board (MCCB). Visitors are welcome to view the displays at the ELC and participate in the educational programs offered by MCCB. Visitors can also enjoy a picnic at the tables provided outside the lower level of the building or hike the various trails the area provides. Caldwell Park is also the site of Mahaska County’s Freedom Rock. The rock was completed in 2015 by artist Ray “Bubba” Sorenson II. The murals are a tribute to the veterans of Mahaska County. Spring Creek divides the property with a natural wetland and a remnant prairie providing a great place to explore. The Mahaska County Recreation Foundation Trail also intersects the property.
