Moorehead Park encompasses a total of 258 acres with the county's largest single tract of upland forest. Nestled in the middle is a 12-acre stocked lake adjacent to a paved bike trail that runs through the town of Ida Grove. Park ammenities include multiple shelters, a giant playground, vault toilet bathrooms and nearly eight miles of biking/hiking trails. The "Trail of the Dragon Run" is hosted at this park by the Ida County Conservation Foudation in August every year.
Moorehead Park is the home of Ida County Conservation's new nature center built entirely by donations. Engaging educational programs are offered to schools, camps and field trips amongst other organizations. Unique historical features include the following: Stagecoach Inn, stagecoach barn and an old schoolhouse; open for tours by appointment via the local Historical Society Chapter.
