Ranney Knob Area

Ranney Knob Area consists of 90 acres located directly west of Washta, Iowa. This beautiful recreation area includes picnic shelters, three non-electric campsites ($10/site/night), and wooded trails along the Little Sioux River. A new group shelter was put up in 2023 that is perfect for birthday parties, family reunions, and other get-togethers! Anglers can fish for channel catfish and walleye, and hunting is permitted from October 1 - April 30. Pit toilets are handicapped-accessible. Visitors can enjoy wildflowers blooming in the park from April through October, and birdwatchers will find wintering eagles, migrating warblers, and many resident songbirds. **No UTV, ATV, etc. allowed in the park**
