River's Bend Wildlife Area
River's Bend Wildlife Area is a recreation area with a lot going on, near the Big Sioux River, just south of Akron, Iowa. Nearly half of this property is prairie habitat teaming with birds and butterflies in the summer. The other half of the area has a 20 acre lake and campground. The lake has a concrete boat ramp and fishing jetties. The lake has been stocked with bass, bluegill and catfish, though other fish have found their way in recently. Only non-gas powered boats are allowed in the lake. Swimming is not allowed in the lake.
A small campground consists of 10 pull though campsites can be found on the east side of the lake. Each site has electricity and water. A dump station is located on the road as you are leaving. There is a primitive restroom available near the picnic shelter and boat ramp.
