The Winterset Mural

The Winterset Mural was created by Des Moines artist James Navarro. There are seven individual scenes and almost all are meant to be interacted with, creating the perfect selfie or photo experience! These scenes include a Welcome to Winterset postcard highlighting Madison County's history, the American flag and flying bald eagle (to perch on your arm), a wooden swing under a Red Delicious apple tree (which was discovered in Madison County) and covered bridge, two pairs of wings (one pair for an adult and one pair for a child or dog), a shield to protect you from a fire-breathing dragon, a scene from Alice in Wonderland, and finally, a scene from Super Mario Bros. The mural is located in the alleyway between Turning Point and Shawn's Furniture. Be sure to share your photos with the mural on social media and hashtag #madisoncountyiowa.
