Turkey Creek Nature Preserve

Show Contact Information +
Turkey Creek Nature Preserve is Bur Oak Land Trust's first preserves. The 107 acres of woods and former pasture now features more than 15 acres of reconstructed prairie and, of course, Turkey Creek. There are many pollinators to see in the prairie including the endangered rusty patched bumble bee and a variety of aquatic creatures in the creek. The land was donated in 1981 by Webster and Gloria Gelman, John Greenleaf and Barbara Greenleaf Buckley, Gerald and Sarah Howe and Mauricio and Emilia Lasansky. These families spent a lot of time at Turkey Creek and did not want to see the area developed. Turkey Creek is one of the land trust's most beloved preserves.
