Whiterock Conservancy

Show Contact Information +
Whiterock Conservancy is a 5,500 acre non-profit land trust that balances sustainable agriculture, natural resource protection and public recreation on the landscape. Stretching along a seven-mile section of the Middle Raccoon River valley, the Conservancy offers 40+ miles of hiking, mountain biking, and equestrian trails, paddling opportunities beneath sandstone cliffs, and epic star parties. Spend the night at one of the campsites or Airbnb's and experience Iowa's darkest skies. We are open to the public every day for recreation and exploration. Whiterock Conservancy's mission is to improve the condition of our conservation through appropriate land management, demonstrate sustainable farming methods and provide education and recreational opportunities for our visitors. From statues to murals, public art can be seen at the r House, the roadside park on Highway 141, and throughout the community of Coon Rapids. The hybrid icons on Hwy 141 are based on the history and technology of hybridized corn and the Cold War Era visit of Nikita Khrushchev. In addition, a collection of painting of Whiterocks land by Nancy Thompson can be seen in the Bur Oak Visitors Center during office hours. We have brochures, describing various memorabilia and artifacts in the farmhouse! There are interpretive signs throughout the property describing historical lodging options including cottage and farmhouse rentals, RV and tent camping. Venues available to accommodate large or small events.
