Whitetail Valley Farm

Show Contact Information +
Gruetzi! A Swiss welcome to Whitetail Valley. In 2010 the Kutzli family bought land just outside the entrance to Viking Lake State Park. The land is prairie and woodland. The beautiful view across the valley is enhanced by a picturesque pond. Located between the state park and Montgomery County wildlife area the land is teeming with deer so we decided to call our farm Whitetail Valley. Today, three generations live and work at the farm. Whitetail Valley Farm also does business as Whitetail Valley Cellars Winery and Grampaw’s Punkin Patch. Friends suggested planting vineyards on the south facing hillsides. We began to plant apple trees on the slopes of Whitetail Valley. Our orchard is designed in tune with our Swiss traditions. Instead of tightly spaced rows we planted a Meadow Orchard or Streuobstwiese. We care for over 100 trees of multiple varieties and ages. The orchard includes modern disease resistant varieties, old fashioned favorites and rare vintage apples. Sustainably managed, nature functions here with little use of chemicals. Our trees are spread out so sun and breeze can reach the fruit. As our trees continue to come into production we will be producing over 70 varieties of apples. Besides apple sales a portion of our production will be pressed for juice and used for cider and apple wine. The orchard and Punkin Patch are open September and October. We give farm tours and share the beauty of the land any time by appointment. We hope to see you soon!
